Batorer Ltd celebrates a momentous occasion on Friday 21st June 2024, our 50th anniversary!

Five decades of exceptional service in precision engineering is a testament to the unwavering dedication and expertise of our team. From humble beginnings in a small workshop back in 1974, we’ve grown into a leading provider of high-quality machined components, serving a diverse range of industries across the globe.

From Local Roots to Global Recognition:

The Batorer story starts with two passionate engineers, John Irving and Tony Lees. Whilst working at another firm, they fuelled their shared vision for a company built on quality and precision. Their journey began in a modest workshop, where their first projects showcased both their talent and versatility – crafting parts for a brand new monorail alongside components for those iconic Yorkshire beer pumps. By 1975, their commitment was undeniable.

They took the leap of faith, dedicating themselves fully to Batorer. This included acquiring new premises and welcoming their first employee, John Skelton. John’s remarkable 45-year tenure stands as a powerful symbol of the company culture we’ve fostered – a place where talent thrives and loyalty is valued.

Growth and Unrelenting Innovation:

The next decade saw Batorer experience steady and exciting growth. We expanded our facilities to accommodate a growing team and actively diversified our client base. In 1990, the company leadership transitioned, with Tony Lees taking the reins as sole owner. John Irving, however, remained a valued member of the team for another two decades, his expertise continuing to shape Batorer’s success. By 1994, we’d moved to our current location, a space equipped to handle the increasing demands and complexities of our projects.

A significant milestone arrived in 2004 with a management buyout. This ushered in a new era of leadership, with Martin Dixon, Tony Redfern, and Simon Irving (John’s son) taking the helm. Supported by dedicated shareholders, this team steered Batorer in exciting new directions. We evolved from originally serving local amusement parks to supplying critical components for some of the most demanding engineering feats – from Underground Rail, Oil & Gas platforms and Nuclear Submarines.
