Embracing Sustainability – Our Journey to Improve Carbon Credentials

In a previous blog, we highlighted our ISO 14001:2015 accreditation and how it supports our clients’ quest for carbon zero. Today, we’re thrilled to share the concrete steps we’ve taken to enhance our carbon credentials. By embracing sustainable manufacturing practices, we not only reduce our environmental impact but also empower our clients to achieve their sustainability goals.

A Plastic-Free Workplace

Our journey towards sustainability began within our office walls. In line with our vision, we’ve eradicated single-use plastic cups from our water machines. We are proud to introduce the biodegradable version of our popular 500ml Contour Finger Grip Bottle.

This innovative bottle is manufactured from 100% reclaimed food-grade BPA-free material, sourced from recycled milk bottles collected from council recycler’s. By utilising reclaimed material that would otherwise end up in landfills, we actively contribute to waste reduction and resource conservation. Embracing this sustainable material in our biodegradable bottles, we take a significant step towards mitigating our environmental impact.

Not only do our biodegradable bottles reduce plastic waste, but they are also UK manufactured with a low carbon footprint. We prioritise local production, significantly reducing the emissions associated with transportation.

Each team member now proudly carries a reusable water bottle, minimising plastic waste generation. This small but crucial change reflects our dedication to reducing our carbon footprint and sets an example for our clients to adopt similar practices in their workplaces.

Our journey towards sustainability doesn’t stop at water bottles; we’ve also revolutionised our coffee experience. Instead of relying on cardboard cups for coffee, we’ve introduced personal flasks/mugs to replace single-use items. These mugs are manufactured with an insulated, single-walled construction using high-quality, recyclable polypropylene.

By providing our team members with reusable mugs, we significantly decrease the consumption of disposable coffee cups, reducing the associated waste and environmental impact. These insulated mugs also keep beverages hot for longer, eliminating the need for single-use sleeves or stirrers, further contributing to waste reduction.

Powering Change with Renewable Energy

Furthermore, our website has been powered by 100% renewable energy since February 2022, thanks to our partnership with Media City Way. We are all aware of just how much energy servers require to operate around the clock. However, Media City Way has a data centre with a Power Usage Effectiveness of 1.12. This means that our website is hosted efficiently and that is helping to reduce carbon emissions, especially given that our website will pass the Green Web Foundation’s sustainability checks.

Driving Green Deliveries

In anticipation of the arrival of our electric vehicle (EV), we’re excited to announce that we’ve taken a significant step towards more eco-friendly deliveries. By opting for an EV for local deliveries, we are significantly reducing our carbon emissions and contributing to cleaner air in our community. This move reinforces our promise to take proactive actions and implement practical solutions to combat climate change.
